For Newport Opthalmology Hospital, 2022

Screen print series of 8 new original prints for Newport Hospital Opthamology department inspired by South Wales landscapes, Ishi Hara tests, and conversations with the Eye Doctors.

I was commissioned by Aneurin Bevan Health Board to create a series of original screen prints for the Ophthalmology waiting room at Newport Hospital.

The brief was to transform the space into a more welcoming and comforting environment—particularly for the department’s many young patients, who often found the sterile, clinical surroundings intimidating. Drawing inspiration from conversations with the eye doctors, the colour arrangements of Ishi Hara vision tests, and the calming beauty of the South Wales landscape, I created eight vibrant prints designed to spark curiosity, offer a sense of hope, and gently distract and reassure patients as they wait.
